I'm still planning on moving back to Michigan, and actually being one of the politico types. I'd actually like to talk to you at some point with respect to some questions that I have.Machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08334202088373637268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585668860753081421.post-58865040510802331562008-05-30T15:20:00.000-04:002008-05-30T15:20:00.000-04:00HM - I think ultimately the anger is really frustr...HM - I think ultimately the anger is really frustration. People who know better are frustrated that they are in the minority and have no real political voice. And the people who don't elect leadership that lacks vision, and they get frustrated because this leadership is stuck with old ways of thinking and can't fix any of the problems.

I'd like to think that, like much of the country seems to be with Presidential politics, we might be close to some changeover, but who knows.

One thing I do believe is that we are our most effective at creating change when we work to make sure the things we personally do are done well and done successfully. This can be with your job or business, with your family or education, or even with your home. It's not really about setting an example, it's about raising a standard.

Your concerns about your move are valid, this place isn't for every gay. I would like to point out that despite my rant I have found life here particularly rewarding!

Besos,

SGSupergay Detroithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10169189092634498259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2585668860753081421.post-73454191345178599922008-05-30T14:58:00.000-04:002008-05-30T14:58:00.000-04:00You hit the nail on the head. I'm 26, originally ...You hit the nail on the head. I'm 26, originally from Jackson, living in New York, and planning on moving back to Detroit in two years. And for this my friends all, across the board, are firmly convinced that I need to have my head examined. And frankly, I'm beginning to agree with them. Michigan has neither the wealth, prestige or basic drive to excel that was so present in the state during so much of the last century. It's not just that the economy is in the crapper, there seems to be a broader cultural problem insofar as the general population seems: 1) to be madder than hell, 2) to enjoy being madder than hell and 3) totally and absolutely resistant to any sort of change, whatsoever, that would do anything to alleviate that sense of anger that seems to so pervasively grip the state. What's going on? It's even worse then when I left the state in 2004.Machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08334202088373637268noreply@blogger.com
