WSGD - Supergay Radio

Did I tell you guys about the last time I was on the radio? I can't even remember. Anyway, I am going to be on Detroit Public Radio again tomorrow, for those of you who are interested in finding out just how nasal my voice is on the radio.

I'll be on during the "Detroit Today" program, reading a piece I wrote about weddings. It's expected to air around 10:40AM on 101.9FM here in Detroit, or streaming at www.wdet.org. I believe there will be an archive of the show in the "Detroit Today" section of the site.

Tune in!

[Edit: Here is the link to the story.]

I liked your commentary.

I'm straight (but not narrow) and felt that I would never get married in Michigan because they passed the ban.

Then, when my girlfriend and I decided that we wanted to get married I felt guilty. So, I asked a gay friend of mine if I could have her blessing.

After I explained why and how I felt... she said it was sweet that I asked for her blessing. She gave it to my girlfriend and I.

In the end, I know I will continue to fight for the rights of all to have equal rights. That's why part of the money we may receive at our wedding will be donated to an organization that works for the rights of all to marry.

Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks for the comment and the support! That is a great story.

I have two questions for you:

1) How did you hear the commentary before it aired? I didn't see it on the website yet!

2) Is that you, Brad Pitt?

Hi, SG, Happy Memorial Day weekend.

I listened to your commentary on the website this evening. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect other than, if you followed true to your writing style, it would be clever/arch/witty. It was all that. In your conclusion, you used the gay anthem by the Village People. Good choice.

As an aside to your piece, I wonder if the good folks at the Boll Family YMCA appreciate the gay significance of the Y.M.C.A. sculpture that graces their entryway.

Thanks for the comment anonymous, and I've wondered the same thing about that statue myself! All those children doing the YMCA dance, it seems almost ... dirty.
