CCS2: the Creative Economy guy

The first speaker after the opening ceremonies was John Howkins, the guy who coined the phrase "Creative Economy" back in 2001. He started his address talking about discovering the Diego Rivera murals at the Detroit Institute of Arts, and wondering what the equivalent act of creation today would be. And then he talked about stumbling upon the "Unconference" at MoCAD on Sunday and thinking "aha!," that was the equivalent!

He talked for like two more minutes and I was out of there. I had to go paint the Mona Lisa by checking my email.

Wanna borrow my notes?
